Droupadi Murmu received her primary education at a village school where her teacher renamed her from Puti Tudu to Droupadi. At the age of five, she relocated to Bhubaneswar for higher studies. She earned her secondary education from Girl's High School Unit-2 and graduated with a B.A. from Rama Devi Women's College. She is the first woman from her village to achieve a university education and pursue a career.
